613ON3 Rules & Game Play

  1. Each team consists of 4-6 players, of whom three are on the court at any given time
  2. The game is played on half of a FIBA regulation court, with one basket.
  3. A jump ball is not used to start the game. Instead, a do or die shot is taken from the 3PT Line - if made, the shooters team gets 1st possession to begin the game. If missed the opposing team gets first possession.
  4. There are no jump balls at any time in the game; neither is there an alternating possession rule. In any held ball situation, the defensive team is granted possession.
  5. Instead of the three officials used in full-court, one court monitor and one time/score keeper are used.
  6. Every shot inside the arc awarded one (1) point /every shot behind arc awarded two (2) points.
  7. Each match will consist of a 3 game series.  The first team to score 12 points wins the game.  If necessary a 3 minute overtime will be played in the 3rd game of the series.  In OT the first team to score 2 points wins.  Prior to overtime a 1 minute interval will be granted for both teams.
  8. Breaks between games will be 1 minute.
  9. If the defense gains possession of the ball within the one-point area, either by a steal or rebound, the team must first move the ball behind the three-point arc before being allowed to take a shot.
  10. A team will enter the penalty after it has committed 5 fouls.
  11. All fouls that would result in free throws are awarded one free throw, except for fouls on an unsuccessful shot from behind the arc, which receive two.
  12. Technical Fouls: Players charged with one technical will receive a Game Ejection.  Players charged with two technical fouls will receive a Tournament Ejection.
  13. A team is in a penalty foul situation on its fifth (5th) foul. Subsequent non-shooting defensive fouls by that team result in one free throw (instead of two in the standard full-court game). Since the main FIBA rules apply unless specifically addressed in the FIBA 3x3 rules, overtime is considered an extension of regulation for purposes of the foul penalty.
  14. Substitutions may occur in dead ball situations, prior to the check ball
  15. Stalling – or failing to play actively (i.e. not attempting to score) shall be a violation
  16. If team is not sufficiently trying to attack the basket, the Referee shall give warning by counting down the last 5 seconds
  17. Team Standings: 1.Match Wins 2.Total Games Won 3.Most Points Scored
