Loaded with talent the QB doesn't offer too many ideal "sleepers" as there are so many top signal callers, most owners should get a capable QB1 no matter when they pick. Here's a few players we can call sleepers based on their rankings heading into draft season. Check here for 613u.com's Sleeper QB's and find out who to take and when to take them. Sleepers are listed in order of overall rank. The deeper the sleeper the lower he is on the list.
1. Tom Brady - Patriots - It still is Tom Brady so you won't exactly be sneaking up on anyone by drafting him but Brady's undervalued this year due to losing Gronk, Welker, Hernandez, etc. The good news is he still has his most valuable weapon on his side - Bill Belichek. Tom and Bill will find a way to carve up defenses one way or another. My guess is a much more balanced attack which allows them to go play action much more. It doesn' t matter who it is catching his touchdowns - Tom Brady is throwing them regardless. Grab him after Brees, Rodgers, Manning or around the 4th round and don't worry about your QB position all season. Expect: The same ol' Brady!
2. Carson Palmer - Cardinals - Here we go again with Carson right? Wait, before you focus on his past few years of average quarterback player and very questionable arm strength, try and remember there once was a time this guy was giving Peyton Manning a go for NFL MVP. Those days are behind us and Carson won't be winning the MVP this year however think of a lesser version of Kurt Warners Cardinals. Carson is actually a little younger than Warner was, Larry is still there, the defense may even be better, and they have offensive minded Bruce Arians running things. Why not draft Palmer in the last round and start him for bye weeks and favourable match-ups. Expect: A few monster games combined with a few duds.
3. Alex Smith - Chiefs - Smith is another guy that seems to be on the sleeper list every year. Alex was putting together a strong season last year before getting injured and allowing Kaep to steal his job. Alex faces similar circumstances with another new system, another new coach, and another chance to prove himself, The difference is: Andy Reid want HIM as HIS GUY. For once Alex is the unquestioned starter. Now he is in charge of an offense built around him. With Jamal Charles and Dwayne Bowe ready to break out, plus the chip on Andy Reid's, Alex Smith could be on the verge of a shockingly successful season. After you grab your starting QB wait it out and get Smith as your bye week option with potential to be Andy Reid's next success story. Expect: 3,750 Passing Yards, 20 Pass TDs, 5 Rush TDs from Mr. Smith.
4. E.J. Manuel - Bills - Why not? This years only QB drafted in the 1st round, Manuel isn't Andrew Luck or RG3 in terms of immediate impact. More similar to Cam Newton in terms of intangibles and his ability to read defenses but alike in terms of athleticism as well. Because E.J. plays in a primarily run first offense you shouldn't expect Manuel to light up anyone for 400+ passing yards this season but 250+ total yards and 1 or 2 TD's per week should be the norm by mid season. Expect: Manuel to be durable and versatile enough to average 2 TD's (pass/run) per game
(Also consider: J. Flacco, J. Cutler, and T.Pryor)
