With Halloween right around the corner and most of you fantasy freaks in need of some help as you try to make a push for the playoffs - Joe Random is here just in time, making his 613 Blog debut, with his new weekly feature; "Joe Random's Fantasy Advice". Check here each week before you must make those difficult lineup choices
Yes folks its week 7 already, injuries, bye weeks, and under performers are becoming a factor in the fantasy world. What the hell happened CJ Spiller? 351 rushing yards and 1 touchdown? Doug Martin isn't doing much better - 409 rushing yards 1 touchdown, really? And of course there is Ray Rice - 197 rushing yards 3 touchdowns, that's it? Oh ya, thanks for nothing Roddy White - maybe if you sat out a game or two you would be better by now. We could keep going at running back, Trent Richardson and MJD? Also Chris Johnson but of course who didn't see that coming. Colin Kaepernick after that first beautiful game you have been no where to be seen. Alex Smith could you at least try and throw to Dwayne Bowe - couldn' t you? 56 million to run around out there? If you have any or more then one of these guys your pretty frustrated by now.
In my weekly articles I will be talking about fantasy match ups, players I expect to have good/bad weeks, players you might be able to pick up off waivers or in deeper leagues you might already have them on your bench and you can use to put in when you have players on bye weeks, injured or like i said earlier under performers, CJ!.
We will start with Quarterbacks, and this week if you have Drew Brees you need another option there if you don't already have a backup.
Quarterbacks I like this week in week 7:
Nick Foles, Eagles: Ok if this game is going to be high scoring Foles could have another good week, he was the highest scoring quarterback in fantasy last week. Foles gets the Cowboys who's defense gives up the most points to opposing quarterbacks. I put him in my top 10 for quarterbacks this week.
Projection: 325 Pass yrds, 2 Pass TD, 28 Rush yrds 1 Rush TD
Tony Romo, Cowboys: Again if this game is high scoring then Romo should have a good week in fantasy. Philadelphia's defense like the cowboys gives up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. With DeMarco Murray expected to be out as well expect big days from their top wide receivers "wink face".
Projection: 405 Pass yrds 4 Pass TD, 2 INT
Josh Freeman, Minnesota: This is kind of a risky pick but in an offense that needs a quarterback who will actually throw the ball to there receivers Freeman can be that guy. New offense, new team, new start. They're going up against the Giants who give up the second most points to opposing quarterbacks. With the top running back in the NFL on his side this could make things a lot easier for him. Not looking for a spectacular game from him but three touchdowns is possible.
Projection: 276 Pass yrds 3 Pass TD, 1 INT, 13 Rush yrds
Other Mentions:
Philip Rivers, Chargers: 305 Pass yrds, 3 Pass TD, 1 INT
Eli Manning, Giants: 345 Pass yrds, 3 Pass TD, 1 INT (Its Monday Night Football and Minny gives up the fifth most points to opposing quarterbacks in fantasy)
Mike Glennon, Buccaniers: 283 Pass yrds, 2TD
Quarterbacks I "diss" like in week 7:
Tom Brady, Patriots: With Gronk, Amendola, and Edelman all injured and might not play Brady again has another tough week matched up against a good Jets defense. I don't see very good numbers in Mr. Brady's future unless those guys come back and stay healthy.
Projection: 248 Pass yrds 1 TD
Sam Bradford, Rams: I know, he threw for three touchdowns last week but he only had 117 passing yards and hes going up against Carolina who's defense has given up the fewest passing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks.
Projection: 205 Pass yrds, 1 INT 15 Russ yrds
Other Mentions:
Joe Flacco, Ravens: 187 Pass yrds, 1 Pass TD, 2 INT
Colin Kaepernick, 49ers: 230 Pass yrds, 1 Pass TD, 1 INT, 59 Rush yrds
Running backs I like in week 7
Brandon Jacobs, Giants: With Jacobs in a great match up this week against Minnesota he's likely to have another solid week in fantasy. Last week he put up 106 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns against a good Chicago defense.
Projection: 127 Rush yrds, 1 Rush TD, 37 Rec yrds
Giovani Bernard, Bengals: Bernard's touches have increased week by week and I think everyone in Cincy knows just like all the rest of us that he's the man by far. Its not even close. They match up against the Lions this week a team that has allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season, the most yards per carry, and are tied for giving up the most receiving touchdowns to opposing running backs as well.
DeAngelo Williams, Panthers: Very simple, hes going up against a very shaky run defense in St. Louis. The Rams have given up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. Look for him to get 20 to 25 touches this game.
Projection: 167 Rush yrds, 2 Rush TD, 45 Rec yrds
Other Mentions:
Lamar Miller, Dolphins: 75 Ru yrds, 1 Ru TD, 12 Rec yrds
Danny Woodhead, Chargers: 45 Rush yrds, 78 Rec yrds, 1 Rec TD
Running Backs I "diss" like in week 7:
Chris Johnson, Titans: I like it but i don't cause its Chris Johson!. Going up against the 49er's defense who's allowed 100 total yards and six scores in its past five games Johson has a chance to maybe have a good week but its Chris Johnson people should i say more.
Projection: 78 Rush yrds, 27 Rec yrds
Le'Veon Bell, Steelers: This youngster has yet to really get going, I'm sure people were excited after his two touchdown performance against Minnesota in week 4 but he's averaging just 2.8 yards per carry this season and i dont see him doing much against a Ravens squad that has allowed only one rushing touchdown this season.
Projection: 67 Rush yrds, 21 Rec yrds
Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars: Well even though hes my man (im a jags fan), he just hasnt looked the same. Remember two years ago he lead the league in rushing well he doesnt look even close too that MJD we know. He was injured most of last season so that might have something to do with it or just the fact that the Jags are just plain bad. They go up against the Chargers this week who have given up the third least points against running backs this year in fantasy. Don't look for much at all.
Projection: 72 Rush yrds, 14 Rec yrds
Other Mentions:
Willis McGahee, Browns: 47 Rush yrds
Steven Ridley, Patriots: 56 Rush yrds, 26 Rec yrds
Wide Receivers i like in week 7
Keenan Allen, Chargers: Allen has been good the last two weeks with 222 receiving yards and two touchdowns and hes going up against the Jaguars who again are horrible and Philip Rivers like i said earlier in my likes for quarterbacks, will have a good game and Allen will be a part of that.
Projection: 117 Rec yrds, 1 Rec TD
Harry Douglas, Falcons: Someone has to catch the passes from Matt Ryan with Julio Jones out for the season and Roddy White injured. Don't get to high on him but a solid fantasy game could be in order.
Projection: 89 Rec yrds, 1 Rec TD (yes i'm saying hes getting his first touchdown of the season)
Vincent Jackson, Buccaneers: Jackson has averaged 12.5 targets per game since Glennon has taken over in week 4, that's most among wide receivers during that span. Hes going up against Atlanta who isn't very good at stopping the pass this year.
Projection: 134 Rec yrds, 1 Rec TD
Other Mentions:
Steve Smith, Panthers: 78 Rec yrds, 1 Rec TD
Justin Blackmon, Jaguars: 112 Rec yrds 1 Rec TD
Greg Little, Browns: 72 Rec yrds, 1 Rec TD
Wide Receivers i "diss" like in week 7
Due to lack of time in my first week blog i'm going to make the rest of this short and sweet so we can get it up before sunday's games start, but expect next week to be up early and more complete then this.
Protections:
Anquan Boldin, 49ers: 45 Rec yrds
Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs: 37 Rec yrds
Torrey Smith, Ravens: 82 Rec yrds
Stevie Johnson, Buffalo: 24 Rec yrds
Cecil Shorts, Jaguars: 55 Rec yrds
Tight Ends i like in week 7
Jermichael Finley, Packers: Some one has to catch Aron Rogers passes with all of the wide receiver injuries Green Bay has.
Projection: 89 Rec yrds, 2 Rec TD
Kyle Rudolph, Vikings: Josh Freeman there he will get some targets.
Porojection: 77 Rec yrds, 1 Rec TD
Heath Miller, Steelers: Ravens allow the seventh most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Projection: 91 Rec yrds
Timothy Wright, Buccaneers: Wright is second only to Vincent Jackson in targets, receptions and yards in the last two weeks.
Projection: 102 Rec yrds
Other mentions:
Brent Celek, Eagles: 72 Rec yrds
Scott Chandler, Bills: 55 Rec yrds 1 Rec TD
Tight Ends i "diss" like in week 7
Projections:
Garrett Graham, Texans: 33 Rec yrds
Jared Cook, Rams: 48 Rec yrds
Jason Witten, Cowboys: 42 Rec yrds
Defense's i like week 7
Carolina Panthers: 17 Points against, 5 Sacks, 2 INT
Miami Dolphins: 19 Points against, 3 Sacks, 2 INT
New England Patriots: 14 points against 3 sacks 3 INT
Buffalo Bills: 21 Points against 5 Sacks 2 INT
Defense's i "diss" like in week 7
Indianapolis Colts: DUH!.
Houston Texans: 27 Points against 3 Sacks
St. Louis Rams: 34 points against 2 Sacks
Cincinnati Bengals: 30 Points against 3 Sacks 1 INT
That's it that's all! I hope reading this will help you when you have those tough decisions with byes, injuries and under achievers. Check back each week for my "like's" and 'diss" likes for Fantasy Football.
