2013 Champion:
Gabe Hugh "I Hate Bye Weeks" (I.H.B.W.)
2013 Runner Up:
Matt Joyce "Password Is Taco"
What a year it was in the 3rd season of the BOOM League. There was plenty of adversity for all teams and owners at some point during the course of the season - making Year 3 of BOOM the most exciting season yet. Whether it was the total domination of the B.I.T.H. franchise through the first ten weeks of the season, or the complete dismantling of the 'Wings franchise. (After Week 1 Caleb had already moved 6 of his original 15 drafted players). Also the bad luck for Taylor and Brandon was a story of it's own for the first few weeks of the season - seems like someone placed a Fantasy Football curse on Brandon in the BOOM league as he is now 0 - 3 in his history in the league. Probably the best season to date for competitiveness in the league as 10 teams still had a shot for the playoffs heading into the Week 13 games. So without further ado check out our Boom Season Recap.

Gabe (I Hate Bye Weeks) - The bye week hater comes out of nowhere, sneaks into the playoffs, upsets the favourite, and steals the BOOM league title! The I.H.B.W. roster has to be to be one of the most stunning fantasy football championship teams ever assembled but that just reminds us; in fantasy football - timing is everything! It's not how well you do during the regular season (Devin), or how good your roster is (Joyce), anything can happen, it only takes one good week to change an entire season. Great work Gabe - reaching the playoffs for the 3rd straight season and now getting to hoist the prestiguous - Kingsford Cup.
Dev (Boyz In The Hood/ B.I.T.H.) - Well if Devin hasn't already told you about 100 times, his team is pretty good. Also he won the regular season title by an amazing 200 point difference - and he certainly wasn't the most humble about it. Weekly projections of 100+ points each week for B.I.T.H. made it a cake walk to the playoffs. Unfortunately as many other regular season champs have learned - it means nothing come playoff time. As Peyton Manning had a few off weeks, and Adrian Peterson began to slow down Devin was primed for a letdown week and surely enough it came at the worst possible time (the BOOM semi finals). Losing to Gabe kept B.I.T.H's All-Star lineup out of the championship game and Devin had to settle for bronze. Some other owners may be happy with a 3rd place finish but this season will certainly be considered as a failure for the B.I.T.H. franchise. Ouch! Although Devin walks away with $80 he would likely give that back for bragging rights.
Norby (Emanuelle2000) - The defending champ posts another super strong season making the playoffs again and proving he is no fluke. Although he suffered some crushing defeats early in the season due to poor matchups, Emanuelle2000's large point totals and key wins down the stretch earned him a playoff spot. Marshawn Lynch and Matt Stafford lived up to their keeper status for Norb this year but the owner has hinted that he may be moving on from his BOOM Fantasy Championship winning QB this offseason. Always confident Mr. Norby expects to be in the playoffs again next season.

Tay (Have you Met Gronk?) & Brandon (Giant Killers) - Wow talk about the two let down teams of the season. Both of these squads looked great on paper following what seemed to be strong drafts by both owners. However for Taylor he was counting on bounce back seasons from MJD, Andre Johnson, and Gronkowski and for the most part they did not deliver. By the time Gronk was back and Andre/MJD were relevant again Taylors team had already piled up too many loses to recover from. As for Brandon bad luck had more to do with his teams failure than anything else. Constantly facing a team that put up a top point total each week Brandon stumbled behind early more due to poor matchups than a weak team. When you are down the fantasy gods love to kick dirt on you and that was the case for Brandon as the injuries began to pile up (losing Julio Jones) his teams season was a write off by week 7. The good news for these two is they will receive high draft picks and they should have a lot of good fantasy football karma working in their favour this season.
Dame (Balls Deep) & Chad (Wickdogg) - Two owners that were in the playoff mix at the end of the season but narrowly missed out and once again will be forced to rebuild. Inconsistent QB play once again was the case for Balls Deep - he actually owned Nick Foles before he became Nick Foles - perhaps next year he will target a top signal caller early? Chad once again had great production from his stars Brees and McCoy but couldn't establish much lineup consistency outside his top dogs. A few questionable lineup choices over the course of the season ended up costing these teams the playoffs. These two are like the Cowboys and the Lions always pretty good and have some potential but they just haven't got it done down the stretch. Another consolation title is bittersweet for Balls Deep.
Ron (Plucky Weinerdog) - Good Ol' Lucky Plucky. Always unorthodox with his draft strategy and as well as his weekly lineup choices - yet he finds a way to win. Although his lineup does not often project major point totals other owners grew to fear seeing the Weinerdogs on their schedule as they know - when you play Plucky - anything can happen. The definition of the boom or bust style owner Ron usually goes for the high risk/high reward players and through 3 seasons it has worked out quite well. Ron only missed the playoffs by 0.3 points this season - which essentially allowed the Gabe (the 4th seed) to win the title. Will next year be the year Plucky's boom or bust strategy catches up with him? ... I wouldn't bet on it.

Tyler (Steeler Stomperz) & Elia (Wretched Spawnn) - Two owners with their first season of in the BOOM league under their belts looked to bounce back in a strong way in their sophomore season. After some questionable lineup management last season both Tyler and Elia responded this season not only with very solid drafts but also key waiver wire moves, trades, and or lineup decisions during the season. Although both owners missed the playoffs this season they were much more competitive and should feel confident about their chances headed into next season. These two franchises are hungry for their first taste of the BOOM league playoffs and 2014 should be at least one of their years.
Joyce (Password is Taco) - In his first year in the BOOM league Joyce was very aggressive. Making key moves setting up his team for a run at the title was a bold move by the new BOOM member. Unfortunatley the strong squad lost a little steam and was upset in the Finals. Overall a great first season by BOOMs newest member. Joyce has made his presence known and other owners would be foolish not to take him seriously heading into next year.
Caleb (Only Winners Get Wings) - Talk about hitting the panic button - O.W.G.W. made more trades than any other team in the league this season. With only 1 player remaining from the original 15 draft picks at the end of the season there certainly were some questionable moves made however to the team's credit they grinded out wins and stayed in the playoff hunt all season long only missing the post season by 1 game. Overall too much player movement and lineup switching for Caleb to get any Wings in the BOOM league this season - inconsistent play early in the season was too much to overcome - look for a mass rebuild in year 4 of BOOM for the OWGW franchise.
