Thanks Folks!
Happy Sunday.
-D.M.
- Home opener for Atlanta coming off a tough divisional loss last week. Although the WRs are dinged up look for Falcons to pull off the win thanks to Matt Ryan.
- Rams looked like a more balanced team last week however their defense has work to do in order to get back to where they were last year.
- Look for St. Louis to keep it close and nearly pull off the upset.
- Players to watch: Harry Douglas, Jared Cook, Tavon Austin
CHARGERS @ EAGLES:
- Philly introduces their offense to fans in their home opener in a big way. Vick and McCoy will continue to run wild and my boy DeSean Jackson surely will be involved as well.
- Rivers looked like the Phillip of old during the first half of last weeks game - in the second half he just looked old. Be sure to follow Ryan Mathews on his quest to remain healthy for a second straight game.
- Chargers may be underrated but they should not be able to keep pace with the Eagles.
- Players to watch: Phillip Rivers, Mike Vick, Vincent Brown
COWBOYS @ CHIEFS:
- UPSET ALERT: Chiefs are much stronger at home playing in front of 'The Red Sea' and coming off a win last week look for a confident Kansas City squad to cause problems for the Cowboys.
- So much for Dez Bryant being the MVP this season eh Michael Irvin? Already hurt in Week 1 Dez has his work cut out for him to chase that honour. Cowboys have more talent on offense than the Chiefs and their defense doesn't get enough credit.
- If the Cowboys can control the ball and limit their mistakes they should be able to sneak out of Arrowhead with a tough win.
- Players to watch: Tony Romo, Alex Smith, Jason Witten
DOLPHINS @ COLTS:
- Battle of the 2nd year QB's and their team's improved D's. Andrew Luck is the superior young gunslinger and should once again perform well thanks to R. Wayne & Co.
- Dolphins will submit to Mike Wallace's demands for the ball and it will pay off versus an average Colts defense. Look for the Phins to get Lamar Miller more involved.
- Once again Luck will lead his team to victory late in the 4th quarter. It might not be pretty but this game should be a tough battle
- Matchups to watch: Ryan Tannehill vs Andrew Luck, Lamar Miller vs. Ahmad Bradshaw
TITANS @ TEXANS:
- Texans, fortunate to come back after a slow start last week, should start much faster this time at home. A heavy dose of Foster & Tate will be on the menu this week in Houston
- Titans may have had the upset of the week versus the Steelers last week however they will have a much tougher time dealing with the Texans on the road. Can Locker be effective enough to keep J.J. Watt and pals at bay? Probably not, unless he has help from Kenny Britt or Chris Johnson.
- Titans look to pull off another big upset in Houston but the Texans will be too strong on both sides of the ball for Tennessee to deal with.
- Players to watch: Jake Locker, Ben Tate, Kenny Britt
REDSKINS @ PACKERS:
- I'm not buying what RG3 is selling. He is far from the player he was last season. His timidness will be his demise this week - and possibly most of the season.
- Packers Defense showed some attitude last week on the road in Candlestick. Expect that defensive intensity to carry over this week and for the offense to score points as usual.
- Packers should cruise to victory in their home opener at Lambeau thanks to the Redskins poor offensive execution.
- Players to watch: Roy Helu, Fred Davis, Jermichael Finely
BROWNS @ RAVENS:
- Ravens offense look awful last week and the defense looked even worse. The good news is they had a long week to prep for their home opener vs. division rival Cleveland.
- Browns once again lack consistent enough QB play to make them a legitimate threat of winning. Unless they catch some lucky breaks on special teams or force some turnovers - Browns will be in for an uphill battle.
- Ravens respond in a big way at home thanks to a dominate defensive performance.
- Players to watch: Jordan Cameron, Marlon Brown, Terrell Suggs & Ravens D
PANTHERS @ BILLS:
- Bills Defense looked much improved last week vs. Patriots however they face a new test trying to contain Cam Newton and Carolina's offense. The Run Defense will be the true test today for Buffalo.
- Panthers Defense also surprised last week with their impressive performance against the Seahawks, nearly completing the upset. The matchup of the day will be the success of Carolina's D-Line vs. the rushing attack of Buffalo.
- Bills late game struggles to stop the run continue as Cam and the Panthers rushing attack wear them out late in the 4th to seal the victory.
- Players to watch: EJ Manuel, Cam Newton, Carolina D-Line
VIKINGS @ BEARS:
- Don't over Ponder this match-up as Bears D should do enough to win this one by themselves. Cutler will go to B.Marshall every time they need to make a play - and it should work.
- Vikings need A.P. to run wild and their D to cause some Cutler mistakes in order to have a chance in this one.
- Don't underestimate this divisional match-up as Peterson gives Minnesota a chance every time they step on the field.
- Players to watch: Christian Ponder, Cordarrelle Patterson, Martellus Bennett
SAINTS @ BUCS:
- Buc's shocked many losing on the road vs. rookie QB Geno Smith and the Jets are looking to rebound strong at Raymond James Stadium. Unfortunatley the Freeman and Schiano situation may be the storyline all season for this talented team.
- Saints are looking good following a divisional win vs. Atlanta last week in Sean Paytons first game back. Bucs shouldn't give them much trouble unless they try to control the line of scrimmage and shoren the game.
- The Buc's revamped their secondary over the offseason as a way to counter high powered offenses in their division like the Saints. Will it be enough? Not likely.
- Players to watch: Josh Freeman, Kenny Stills, Darrelle Revis & Tampa Secondary
LIONS @ CARDINALS:
- Reggie Bush may have earned his contract with his Week 1 performance alone. Playing through thumb, groin, and knee injuries during the game Reggie looked like a true every down RB. No one is happy than the duo of Stafford & Calvin to have someone on their side keeping defenses honest.
- Cardinals offense looked light years ahead of where they were last season in Week 1. Patrick Peterson will cherish the opportunity to cover Calvin Johnson - and he may be Johnson's biggest test all season.
- This game will come down to the Cardinals D vs. the Lions O. Can 'Zona cause problems for Detriots high powered offenses or will Reggie Bush continue to be the X-Factor leading the Lions to victory.
- Players to watch: Calvin Johnson vs. Patrick Peterson, Reggie Bush, Tyrann Mathieu
JAGUARS @ RAIDERS:
- Jag's playing in their second straight "Who Really Cares" game of the week. Chad Henne should improve what we call the Jags "passing attack" and MJD should help control the tempo.
- Terrelle Pryor may be the Fantasy Pick-Up of the week and he should continue to put up solid numbers in a good matchup at home vs Jacksonville. Look for McFadden to have a big day thanks to the space Pryor's rushing ability creates.
- Jaguars need their defense and special teams to come up big to win in Oakland. Cecil Shorts becomes more of a threat with Henne at QB but will it be enough? Doubtful.
- Players to watch: Terrelle Pryor, Run DMC, Cecil Shorts
BRONCOS @ GIANTS:
- David Wilson may be on the missing persons list in New York if he fumbles again today - how will the young RB respond to more adversity early in his career. Nicks, Cruz, and Randle aren't that far off the level of Brocno's Thomas, Welker, and Decker.
- Bronco's expect to cruise to victory following a dominate week 1 victory and an extra few days rest. Their offense should have no problems scoring - this game will depend more on their defensive execution.
- Could this be the upset of the week? The Manning Bowl should be a closer game than many expect but Denver should still come out on top.
- Matchups to watch: Manning vs. Manning (duh), Giants WRs vs. Broncos WRs, Giants Pass Rush vs. Bronco's Pass Rush
49ERS @ SEAHAWKS:
- GAME OF THE WEEK: In arguably the best rivalry in football right now the 49ers look to flex their muscles on the road in Seattle. Look for 49ers offense to control the tempo of the game thanks to Kaep, Gore, Boldin, and Davis.
- Seahawks narrowly escaped Carolina with a W. Their offense needs to step up in a big way if they are going to compete with the confident 49ers. Marshawn Lynch will be given a lot of carries as the Seahawks look to establish some balance.
- 49ers looked too good and Seahawks looked too bad for San Fran not to come away with a victory. However don't discount the bonus the Seahawks receive playing in the leagues LOUDEST stadium.
- Players to watch: Anquan Boldin, Golden Tate, Russell Wilson vs. Colin Kaepernick
STEELERS @ BENGALS:
- The AFC North took a beating last week with all 4 teams dropping to 0 - 1. One of these divisional foes will fall to 0 - 2 on Monday Night - our money says it will be the Steelers. Too many injuries and not enough playermakers on either side of the ball for Pittsburgh to go on the road and win.
- Bengals have the best WR in football right now in AJ Green - and they are going to use him. Look for Bengals D to cause problems for the Steelers depleted offense.
- Steelers can't play as poorly as last week and divisional games should never be overlooked but the Bengals are too talented to lose their home opener.
- Players to watch: Antonio Brown, Ben Roethlisberger, Giovanni Bernard
Thanks Folks!
Happy Sunday.
